PCIe 5.0 retimer handles up to 32 GT/s

Mar 04, 2024

Fabless semiconductor company Kandou announced Regli, a PCIe 5.0 and Compute Express Link (CXL) 2.0 retimer for data center applications. Slated to sample in the coming months, the Regli KB9003 supports data transfer rates of up to 32 GT/s and offers 16 bidirectional lanes.

Kandou claims the Regli retimer extends system reach, improves signal integrity, and delivers ultra-low latency. The protocol-aware retimer is backward-compatible with PCIe 1.0 through 4.0 technology. It increases PCIe trace length between a root complex and its endpoints, maintaining signal integrity by dynamically compensating channel loss up to 36 dB using Kandou’s autonomous receiver equalization (ARxE).

Other device features include multiple control interfaces, flexible clock modes, secure boot, and on-chip diagnostics. In addition to data centers and hyperscalers with heavy computational workloads, the Regli retimer is suitable for servers, workstations, desktops, 5G infrastructure equipment, and PCIe and CXL storage.
