980 Ti Crashing issue
Mar 04, 2024
I got an EVGA 980 Ti (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/evga-gtx-980-ti-superclocked-acx-2-0.b3323) off of eBay a few months back. I made sure it output a picture, then I repasted and put new pads on it, as it was hitting 80 degrees C during testing. (For those wondering, I used MX-6 and TP-3 pads.) Now the temperatures are much better, they barely hit over 60 C when under 100% load. But when I play a game like Fortnite or Forza Horizon, the GPU crashes randomly. It doesn't really matter how long I've been playing, but the game crashes. This even happens with Minecraft sometimes, though more rarely. Once or twice I got an error message saying something about an unreachable memory block, so I think one of the VRAM chips is probably dead. The GPU itself is bent a little bit, but it fits. I didn't push very hard to get it to screw into the pcie cover slot, but still it could be something. It works for a lot of the time, but especially when I move in-game it crashes, at least I think. Feel free to ask me for more info. I'm thinking to upgrade to a 4060 soon. One last thing I noticed, the Bus Interface is lower than it should be I think. Is this normal or no? And is this more likely a mobo or GPU problem? This is the screenshot of GPU-Z.
