7800X3D - idle frequency range & temperature questions

Have some questions about the 7800X3D.


1) What is the average idle frequency range supposed to be? I've read it should idle around 4.2-4.8 GHZ, although mine seems to idle in a range around 2.9-4.8 GHz.

2) I have some questions about temperature at load. The CPU seems to run hot. Are these temperature ranges normal and safe?


Ambient temperature: 65F / 18.3C


Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE


Case: Fractal Design Define S, 2x 140mm intake, 1x 120mm intake, 1x 140mm exhaust and side cover open (but no fan installed).


1 Hour of handbrake, H264 1440P video, Very Slow rendering (more demanding than games):




Games tend to be in the 70-75C range, and the CPU cooler doesn't hit its max RPM of 1500 either. Though when it was warmer (ambient temperatures ~ 73F / 22.7C) the temperatures were higher.


These temperatures seem fine for now, but what worries me is when summer comes around. Ambient temperatures will easily get up to 85F / 29.4C frequently. Is it something to worry about? Seems like once it heats up even games will be pushing it up into the mid to high 80C. Considering the cooler I have, that seems a bit high to me, but wondering if that is normal for the 7800X3Ds.
